After being on his “people I want to meet” list for something like 7 months, and having our major form of communication (myspace email) cut off during the day while he’s attached at the hip to a computer at the library and I’m at work slaving away massaging mortgage data, I guess that he finally decided that I’m not all that scary of a person as he initially thought and he asked me out for coffee. Well, I drink tea – “that’s fine”, he said and suggested that we go to The Gypsy Den so gave him my cell phone number. Then life happened. He had a cold, then he traveled twice or more. We just could never catch eachother at a good time. So finally last Sunday (3/18/07) was a good time. We met at the Gypsy Den at 8PM. I was on time and he came with a book, as if I would be tardy or not show at all. Hrmm. Anyway, he was quite smiley and nervous, talking a mile a minute stringing together stores of travel, people, and experiences that he had went through. I’m a good listener, so I just did my thing and let him talk… alot. Finally, after about 30 minutes of this frantic verbal pace, he let out a little sigh and we discussed things at a slower cadence like living in California, my son, his job and my boring job. I think I almost saw his eyes roll up into the back of his head as I explained my former job which is even more dry and baffling than my current one. That’s o.k., discussing finance is not for everyone. So in a nutshell, the tea as good, the place suited the meeting and now I can’t say I’ve never met Ned in person anymore. He’s an interesting person, indeed.
